Falling into winter

I write e-mails, but you are all too busy to write back or can't think of what to say in the moment and then it passes. I have enjoyed reading the blogs that you all have been writing, so I thought I would write one of my own and let you know what is happening here in southwest Wisconsin. If I post it here, you are free to read and I won't feel any need for a response. Anyway, Zara and Dad were out in the woods yesterday and Zara caught a wild turkey. I guess we are ready for Thanksgiving. Eamon and Dad have been busy down in the woods with the chain saw. The woodpile is now full and ready for winter. We had snow last week. It didn't last but it has been cold. I am officially predicting a long, cold winter. That doesn't mean I don't think that global warming is happening. Unusual weather patterns are all part of the general malaise, aren't they?

So. Let me know if there are things you would like me to report on specifically--like the number of times I have beaten Dad at Hearts lately (0) or the number of bowls I have thrown in the last week (15!) or ...

Enjoy the day--it's the only one you've got.
